Course of plasma substance P concentration (PSPC) in the blood of the tail vein over the course of 24 h. Blood for the assessment of PSPC was taken from the Vena caudalis mediana (tail vein) of 52 adult cows at the interval of 6 h over the course of 24 h (08:00 a.m. (TV1), 02:00 p.m. (TV2), 08:00 p.m. (TV3), 02:00 a.m. (TV4) and 08:00 a.m. (TV5). Blood samples were missing for n = 2 in TV2, n = 4 in TV3, and n = 5 for TV 4 and TV5, respectively. The missing values were imputed via chained random forest approach. Significant differences in PSPC between blood samples are given as p < 0.05 and p < 0.01
