Comparison of the amino acid sequences of the FimH proteins of type 1 fimbriae from four different serotypes of avian pathogenic E.coli. Positions 1–21 are the signal peptide sequence. Positions 22–177 are the lectin domain, and their protein sequences are basically the same. Positions 182–300 are the pilin-binding domain, where individual amino acid variations exist. The amino acid sequence alignment of the FimH proteins of MG2 (O11), TS12 (O18), YR5 (O78), and K12 was performed using MUSCLE in SnapGene software.
