Leukocyte Coping Capacity (LCC) -peak levels (a; n = 24) and LCC-auc (b; n = 24) expressed in relative light units (RLU) for European roe deer, captured in box traps, as function of the time the handling team was already present at the capture site prior to the handling procedure. With the increasing time of human presence prior to handling, the LCC response (peak as well as area under the curve, auc) is decreasing, indicating a significant increase of stress in the animals
