Table 1 Prohibited concomitant medications

From: Concurrent short-term use of prednisolone with cyclosporine A accelerates pruritus reduction and improvement in clinical scoring in dogs with atopic dermatitis

Treatments prohibited within 7 days of starting the study

Any antibiotic

Topical corticosteroids

Drugs interfering with CsA such as ketoconazole, itraconazole, miconazole, phenobarbital.

Treatments prohibited within 14 days of starting the study

Cylosporine A

Systemic short acting glucocorticosteroids, including ophthalmic and otic preparations

Antihistamines

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)

Topical calcineurin inhibitors

Shampoos (except where the same treatment regimen is maintained throughout the study).

Vaccination

Clomipramine, amitriptyline and fluoxetine and any other serotonin reuptake inhibitor

Other prohibited treatments

Allergen specific immunotherapy (except if initiated for at least 9 months and where the same treatment regimen is maintained throughout the study).

Treatment with systemic long-acting corticosteroids within the last 3 months

Essential fatty acids except those used before study initiation for at least 57 days and where the same treatment regime is maintained throughout the study
